"The Altnaharra Hotel is one of the finest sporting
hotels in Scotland and can provide the most extensive range
of fishing and shooting vacations.
Owned by Michael and Sharon Mugford, this family run hotel
prides itself on superior sporting facilities, fine cuisine
and Highland hospitality. All 15 en-suite bedrooms are individually
decorated to provide a unique country feel, each one with
pleasant views.
LOCH NAVER provides excellent
salmon fishing with about fifty fish to 18lb. each year
falling
to the three hotel boats in addition to an increasing number
of sea trout and wild brownies. Early spring salmon fishing
is highly recommended on Loch Naver. The hotel has on occasions,
days on the famous River Naver.
LOCH HOPE has six hotel
boats with a seasonal catch of around 500 sea trout, grilse,
salmon and dozens of great brownies. This is prime water with
consistently good returns from mid-June through September.
Excellent wild brown trout fishing is available on a number
of lochs, from either boat or bank. A few, including PLANTATION,
MEADIE, LOYAL and CRAGGIE are literally at the roadside.
However, there are just as many available if you prefer
a wee hike
of up to an hour.
The Hotel offers comprehensive 7 day fishing packages from
1st March to 19th May
ALTNAHARRA HOTEL beat
on the River Mudale is close to two miles of both banks, is
a gem to fish, even for a couple of hours after dinner. It
provides up to twenty salmon each season.
RIVER STRATHMORE though
a spate river it is in spectacular surroundings and well worth
a day with good trout fishing a bonus.
The hotel can provide a ghillie, fishing tackle and outboard
motors as required though advance reservation is required
in most instances.

THE STALKING
"The Stalking packages for 1 - 8 guests are from August
12th through to 16th February. The Hotel can arrange Stag
and Hind shooting, with excellent keepers. Walked up & rough
shooting for Grouse, Ptarmigan and Pheasant. Woodcock, Snipe
and Duck shooting can be arranged on local estates. Clay
pigeon shooting is also available."
